A Need. Each year millions of children in the U.S. and Canada go to school each day and walk for our Toe Tokens. The result is increased fitness, lower rates of obesity and better performance in their school work due to an exercise break. Each year thousands of children in Haiti go to school every day and drink dirty water. The result is decreased fitness, higher rates of intestinal illness and poor performance in school work due to water borne pathogens.

A Solution. What can we do to help provide clean water? The surprising thing is that the children in Haiti could be spared this plight with the addition of water filters in their schools. These filters, created by Sawyer®, are 99.9997% effective, cost only 50 U.S. dollars each (including shipping, duty fees and installation!) and have been demonstrated to be the most cost-efficient method of curbing salmonella, e-coli and more. How You can Help. We are matching any U.S. or Canadian school or classroom that contributes $50 to ICCM via a Mileage Club, Mileage Club Challenge Series or Lift-A-Ton fund raiser (your choice) to support this humanitarian endeavor. In fact, the match doesn't have to be from a fund raiser. It can be from a simple donation campaign. Our goal (and financial match) is to send 100 filters to 53 schools in Haiti by December 31, 2010. That means for each $50 you contribute we will match with another $50, to assure 2 filters per school. Click here for a printable brochure. For more information and pictures go here

Our Raindrop award complements the Walk for Water program nicely. So, as an additional alternative, for every order of Water Droplets of 1,000 quantity we will donate $50 for another filter. To view the Raindrops click here.

To Donate Directly:

Thank You. Thank You. Thank You.We never anticipated the kind of response we received from you and your schools. Since its inception you have raised enough money (which we matched) to purchase more than 250 filters in 53 schools. We exceeded our December 31, 2010 goal of 100 filters to 53 schools by 150%.

Because of your efforts, each of the 53 schools has three filters. The children are required to wash their hands on the way into the schools and school yards at the start of school and also at noon. Of course they can drink filtered water at their pleasure. Amazing.

Others outside of our Walk for Water program captured the vision. More than $55,000 was contributed to ICCM (the sponsoring agency) between December 2010 and February of 2011! That means at least 1,100 filters were made available. While 80% remained in Haiti the remaining 20% went to Kenya, Rwanda, the Congo and Vietnam. Recently the Haitian Team took another 200 filters to Haitian schools. There the staff held demonstrations in 5th and 6th grade science classes. At the close of the sessions each student was given a filter to take home. You and others have made a huge difference in the lives of many children and their families. Thank you.
