Pack-A-Snack™ is an easy-to-implement, incentive-based program that helps young people discover and enjoy healthy snacks. A list of more than 120 Incredible Edible Snacks™ encourages young people to choose readily available, everyday snacks that are whole, fresh and lower in fat. Each time an Incredible Edible Snack is brought, mark a Snack Card. When the Snack Card has four marks (signifying four days of Incredible Edible Snacks) reward the child with a Nutrition Award (brightly colored plastic clusters of grapes, broccoli floweret, slice of bread, cheese wedge or fish) to put on a shoe lace or chain.

The Pack-A-Snack Teacher's Start-Up kit has everything (except snacks) to run the program in your class. The Kit includes the following 9 essential components:

1 Incredible Edible Snacks™ Poster: This 18" x 25" poster creatively presents more than 120 snack foods divided into the USDA's five food groups. It is a kid's guide to Incredible Edible Snacking. Space is also provided to include other foods that are indigenous to you community.
 
2 Wise-Size Poster: This 18" x 25" poster is just the ticket to help young people better understand proper portions for snacking. Children use their own body parts--hands, feet, fingers, fists etc. to determine best sizes for snacking.
 
3 Step-by-Step instructions for implementation.
 
4 Record keeping sheet.
 
5 Snack Cards: Use these Pack-A-Snack Snack Cards to help youth keep track of their Incredible Edible Snacks. (25 per pack, approximately 3" x 5").
 
6 Nutrition Awards: 150 plastic nutrition awards (25 each of bread, broccoli, cheese, fish, grapes and oil drop.)
 
7 MyPlate® Good Eating Cards: To help young people learn more about healthy eating, a packet of 25 business-size cards with MyPlate information is available. This card educates young people on the value of eating a variety of foods based on the USDA's MyPlate.
